You have trained with many renowned Qigong masters throughout your life. How have these different teachings shaped your unique approach to Qigong and healing?

Training with various Qigong masters has profoundly enriched my understanding and practice. Each master brought unique perspectives, techniques, and philosophies, collectively shaping my approach to Qigong and healing.

1.        Diverse Techniques: Exposure to different styles has allowed me to incorporate a variety of movements, breathing techniques, and meditation practices. This diversity helps me tailor sessions to meet individual needs.

2.        Philosophical Insights: Each master emphasized different aspects of Qigong—some focused on the spiritual dimensions, while others highlighted the physical or therapeutic benefits. This breadth of knowledge has deepened my understanding of the holistic nature of healing.

3.        Adaptability: Learning from different teachers taught me the importance of flexibility in practice. I’ve learned to adapt methods to suit various audiences, whether they are beginners, those with specific health concerns, or advanced practitioners.

4.        Emphasis on Intention: Many masters stressed the power of intention, known as Yi, in Qigong practice. This has led me to incorporate mindfulness and intention-setting as key components of my healing process.

5.        Community and Sharing: My experiences with various masters emphasized the importance of community and sharing knowledge. I strive to create an inclusive environment in my teaching, encouraging students to connect and support one another.

Overall, the influence of these masters has shaped a holistic, adaptable, and community-focused approach to Qigong and healing, allowing me to guide others on their unique journeys with compassion and understanding.

Medical Qigong plays a significant role in your practice. How do you see the integration of Qigong with modern medical approaches, and what potential do you believe it holds for the future of healing?

Medical Qigong offers a holistic approach to health that complements modern medical practices. Integrating Qigong with conventional medicine can enhance patient care by addressing both physical and emotional aspects of healing.

Firstly, Qigong emphasizes the flow of energy, or “qi,” which can help manage stress, promote relaxation, and improve overall well-being. Patients incorporating Qigong into their routine can aid in recovery, enhance immunity, and support mental clarity.

In the future, we will see a more collaborative model where practitioners of Western medicine and holistic therapies like Qigong work together. This could lead to more personalized treatment plans, increased patient engagement, and better outcomes. As research continues to validate the benefits of Qigong, it may become a standard part of integrative health approaches, benefiting patients and practitioners alike.

What type of services do you offer?

Our service consists mainly of two areas: healing consultation and medical qigong therapy, and medical Qigong training, from foundation building and self-healing to medical qigong treatment techniques.

As someone who has been practicing and teaching Qigong for four decades, how has your understanding of this ancient art evolved over the years?

My understanding of Qigong has deepened significantly over the past four decades. Initially, I focused on the physical aspects—postures, movements, and breath control. Over time, I’ve come to appreciate the profound connection between mind, body, and spirit that Qigong fosters.

As I’ve taught and practised, I’ve seen how Qigong can be a powerful tool for emotional healing and stress management. I’ve also learned the importance of adapting teachings to individual needs, recognizing that each person’s journey with Qigong is unique.

Additionally, my engagement with modern medical practices has enriched my perspective. Research has helped me understand the physiological and psychological benefits, helping to bridge the gap between traditional wisdom and contemporary health approaches. This evolution has enhanced my practice and deepened my commitment to sharing Qigong as a vital resource for holistic well-being.

What do you believe are the most important qualities or skills for someone who aspires to become a professional medical Qigong practitioner?

Aspiring medical Qigong practitioners should deeply understand Qigong principles and the body’s energy systems. Key qualities include compassion, patience, and communication skills to effectively connect with and support patients.

Additionally, having a solid foundation in anatomy and physiology is crucial for integrating Qigong with modern medical practices. Practitioners should also be open to continuous learning and self-reflection, as personal growth enhances their ability to guide others.

Lastly, developing a regular personal practice is essential; it fosters authenticity and a deeper connection to the transformative power of Qigong, enabling practitioners to offer genuine support to their patients on their healing journeys.

As someone who has witnessed the impact of Qigong on countless lives, what advice would you offer to beginners who are just starting their Qigong journey and may feel overwhelmed by the complexity of the practice?

For beginners feeling overwhelmed by Qigong, I recommend starting with a few simple principles:

1.        Be Patient: Qigong is a journey, not a destination. Allow yourself the time to learn and grow without pressure.

2.        Focus on the Breath: Breath is foundational in Qigong. Start by practising deep, mindful breathing to cultivate awareness and relaxation.

3.        Embrace Simplicity: Begin with basic movements and forms. Mastering the fundamentals will provide a solid foundation for your practice.

4.        Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to how your body feels. Qigong is about energy flow and self-awareness, so honour your limits and adjust your movements as needed.

5.        Practice Regularly: Consistency is key. Even a few minutes a day can lead to significant benefits over time.

6.        Stay Curious: Approach your practice with an open mind. Explore different styles and teachings, and find what resonates with you.

7.        Connect with Community: Joining a class or group can provide support, motivation, and shared experiences, making the journey more enjoyable.

Remember, Qigong is a personal practice that evolves with you. Enjoy the process, and trust that each step brings you closer to greater health and well-being.
