Dr. Marilyn, your college promotes the integration of mind, body, and soul through medical intuition. How does intuition, particularly in your program, complement conventional medical practices, and how do students typically apply this skill in their careers?
Essentially, everything in our world exists in opposites—hard and soft, tangible and intangible. In healthcare, we have the allopathic model, which has long been established. However, there’s value in blending this with a more holistic approach to achieve true wellness. This means integrating science with the metaphysical aspects of our existence, acknowledging that both play vital roles. There are many paths to healing, and the most effective approach is one that balances and complements both intuition and science. Intuition seeks the body’s internal messages, which science may not always account for, while science focuses on physical elements that are equally important. By combining these two perspectives, we create a more comprehensive and effective model for achieving wellness.
In your experience, how does laughter impact physical and emotional healing, and how can individuals incorporate humor into their daily lives for wellness?
There are two primary energies in the world: love and fear. We’re all familiar with fear, but it’s essential that we consciously choose love instead. Love is a choice—a decision to focus on kindness, compassion, and positivity, whether it’s in our daily activities or when facing health challenges. Love is the most powerful energy we possess, and when we channel it, we naturally see positive results. In contrast, fear only reinforces negative outcomes. We must understand the incredible power of our thoughts—what we think, we create. If we constantly fear illness or challenges, we manifest that fear in our reality. By choosing love, we align ourselves with positive energy. It’s about being mindful of the thoughts we entertain and recognizing that the human mind shapes our experience. Choose love, focus on it as your guiding force, and you’ll find that it truly works.
You are advocates for global humanitarian efforts. Can you elaborate on your newly developed humanitarian movement that aims to do global good and provide income for participants?
This is something I’ve wanted to do for many years, and it’s great to finally get it started. We’ve combined it with our new program, Innate Intuition, which is really exciting. The goal is to use the funds generated by the program to give back to the planet, helping where it’s most needed. Right now, we’re working in Africa, but the idea is to have a global reach, whether that means drilling wells, providing clothing and food, or offering direct, personal support to orphanages. We prefer going directly to the places in need, making it personal by bringing toys, food, or clothes ourselves, rather than relying solely on organizations.
Our new program is about using intuition in its purest, most spontaneous form. Animals rely on their instinctive intuition without questioning it, and as humans, we can do the same. I’ve observed how they trust their instincts, and it inspired me to believe that we can, too. This method is rapid and intuitive, and the healing outcomes are incredible—almost beyond explanation. The training process is simple: instructors train more instructors, and so the cycle continues, spreading this powerful skill of harnessing intuition.
I once received a call from a young doctor who was working with the mind and body but felt something was missing—the spirit. I explained to him that intuition is the spirit, and without it, we’re not fully serving humanity. Logic is useful, but it’s a man-made structure, while the universe and true healing require something deeper. By looking beyond logic and embracing intuition, we can find balance, just as we must balance love and fear. Fear is rampant, but we can counteract it by choosing love.
It really is that simple: what we think, we create. If we continuously live in fear, we manifest that fear. But if we choose love, we create a more positive reality. We tend to complicate things unnecessarily, believing that change must be long, hard, and painful, but that’s simply not true. Life doesn’t have to be complicated or filled with disease. We have the power within ourselves and our minds to bring about change.
Right now, the world is shaken—things feel unstable, like paying $8 for a head of cauliflower—but it’s up to us to bring back simplicity and stability through our choices and energy. Intuition is the guiding force, our spirit leading us. Every human, every living thing, is born with this instinctive gift. Even plants respond to positive energy. There’s so much magic in the world, and intuition is the first step to unlocking it. It’s time to embrace that magic.
ICMI emphasizes the importance of integrating medical intuition with conventional healthcare practices. How do you see medical professionals and intuitives collaborating effectively, and what steps do you think are necessary to foster this integration on a larger scale?
Over the years, our training programs have developed on a large scale, with students consistently working alongside doctors. When I first began pre-qualifying doctors for our program, which we called Medical Intuition, many were unfamiliar with the term—this was around 27 years ago. Now, however, they are actively seeking medical intuitives, looking to integrate that intuitive aspect to balance their medical practices. This integration addresses the emotional elements often overlooked in traditional medicine.
It’s essential to recognize that we are more than just our diagnoses. For instance, I started my career as a nurse back in the 1970s, where patients were often identified solely by their conditions—“the gallbladder case in room 2202.” Intuition helps to soften this clinical language, humanizing the experience and fostering compassion. Doctors today are busier than ever, and we must emphasize the importance of compassion in healthcare. We should not be defined by the diseases we have; we are far more than our medical labels.
This holistic approach considers not only the physical body but also the heart and soul—the intuitive aspects of our being. We need to acknowledge our feelings and understand that the scientific and emotional elements cannot exist in isolation. Balance is crucial in every aspect of life, from eating and sleeping to how we interact with others.
By creating a model that complements the well-established allopathic system with an understanding of how patients feel, we can foster a more compassionate healthcare environment. Often, when we ask patients how they are feeling, they are surprised that anyone cares. We need to cultivate that caring spirit more widely.
Ultimately, this approach is about achieving complementary balance. One direction seldom works effectively for anything, and we must not fear this notion. Instead, we should collaborate to create the best possible outcomes for patients. It’s time for significant change, and we—meaning the people of the planet—are the ones who can bring it about.
Through my extensive global travels, I’ve witnessed the need for humanitarian efforts to enhance our planet and support its inhabitants. Our goal should be to blend medical and alternative models, take pride in our work, and act from a place of love rather than fear. Making the choice to operate from love is vital in everything we do.
Medical intuition and humor are powerful tools for personal growth. How do you envision these practices shaping the future of holistic health, and what advice would you give to those interested in exploring this field?
Dr. Patch Adams is a brilliant example of how humor and laughter can transform healthcare and our overall well-being. His approach emphasizes the healing power of joy and playfulness, reminding us that laughter is a vital part of the human experience. When we laugh, our bodies release endorphins, which are natural mood lifters, helping us feel happier and reducing stress.
In times of fear or anxiety, accessing that joy becomes challenging, but we have the power to make choices that can shift our emotional state. We can choose to tell jokes, share funny stories, or simply create an environment where laughter is encouraged. It doesn’t have to be confined to hospitals or workplaces—humor can thrive anywhere and everywhere.
Engaging in laughter not only improves our own health but also positively impacts those around us. It’s truly contagious! When we make someone else laugh, we often find ourselves laughing, too, creating a ripple effect of joy and connection.
Recognizing that we have the power to bring more humor and love into our lives is incredibly empowering. It doesn’t require advanced degrees; we all have an innate ability to laugh and spread joy. By expressing our desire to feel more love and joy, we can open ourselves up to the signs and magic that life presents. Paying attention to those signs allows us to follow our intuition, guiding us toward a more fulfilling and joyful existence.
Ultimately, it’s about keeping it simple and making conscious choices to enhance our well-being. We are all capable of bringing more laughter, love, and light into our lives and the lives of others.
