Laurie Jonas on Finding Joy, Purpose, and Inspiration Through ‘Living Marvelously’

Laurie Jonas created Living Marvelously as more than just a website—it’s a heartfelt tribute and a call to action, inspired by the vibrant spirit of her mother, Marvel. After losing her mom to breast cancer in 2002 at just 66 years old, Laurie was struck by the deep loss of a life still brimming with untapped dreams and unrealized adventures. Determined to honor her mother’s legacy and make the most of every moment, Laurie founded Living Marvelously as a space to inspire others to embrace life fully and fiercely. Through her platform, Laurie encourages readers to step off the sidelines and actively engage in the beautiful adventure that is life. With thoughtful insights, practical advice, and uplifting messages, she guides others to pursue their passions, prioritize themselves, and uncover the joy in everyday moments. Her mission is to remind us all that living marvelously isn’t about perfection—it’s about daring to live with purpose, joy, and a sense of wonder. Join Mystic Mag as we explore what it truly means to live marvelously and how small, mindful shifts can unlock a world of fulfillment and possibility.

Your journey into spirituality and coaching began with a personal transition as an empty nester. How did this life change spark your desire to pursue a career in spiritual coaching?

My journey into spirituality and coaching actually started much earlier than that. It started back in 2002 when my mom was dying of metastatic breast cancer. I noticed that in her early 60s she started to fade out of her life. Most of the expectations of her life were over and she didn’t know what to do next. It led to some unhealthy decisions, and I started thinking then that I was not going to let that happen to me. I started reading personal development books and following metaphysical leaders – so when my youngest graduated from college, I was ready to step into a new career of blogging and sharing all I learned with others. Spirituality and coaching were natural progressions for me.

You emphasize helping women rediscover joy and purpose. What common challenges do you see women face during this process, and how do you guide them through these obstacles?

Many women have lived their life doing what society has expected of them. To be the nurturer and caretaker of their home and family. So, when they reach midlife, and that role is no longer their priority they don’t remember how to live for themselves. I’ve heard many women say, I don’t know what joy is anymore. I want all women to remember that they are here to be the unique, beautiful soul that they were born to be. And by discovering the things that make you truly happy and fulfilled, you can bring that back. It can be hard to remember that our only job is to be the best version of ourselves and that energy projects onto others.

One of the biggest obstacles is worrying about what others think. We are people pleasers. I guide women to start small doing things for themselves and following their own joy and then paying attention to whether anyone else is judging them. The answer is usually no.

What type of services do you offer?

First, I offer lots of articles of inspiration and motivation on my blog at livingmarvelously.com. That’s what started it all! My mom’s name was Marvel – my website was named in her honor. I also wrote a book called, The 5 Ls of Living Marvelously and I use those steps to coach women and to speak to groups. I love Human Design and offer individual and group coaching. Plus, other eBooks and courses that can be found on my website. I love having conversations with women and seeing their aha moments when they realize that there is a marvelous life still to be lived.

Spirituality is often deeply personal. How do you create a safe space for women to explore and embrace their spiritual path while also empowering them to create a life they love?

To me, spirituality is knowing that you have a higher power available to you at all times and recognizing how you can hear and feel them. Taking deep breaths, quieting your mind, asking for guidance, then listening or journaling what comes up. It doesn’t have to be woo-woo, it’s just paying attention to your intuition – a deep knowing inside you. That is where your power comes from. There are infinite paths and possibilities for you to live the life of your dreams, there is no way for our brains to hold them all. Accessing your higher spirit and paying attention to their signs can open so many doors.

Through your certifications as a Spiritual Life Coach, Dharma Life Coach, and Infinite Possibilities Trainer, how have you developed a unique coaching style that blends these methodologies?

All three of those certifications teach the same principles that I just described in the last question. They give me a base of knowledge to coach women to use their inner power to create their marvelous life. Tools like Dharma Archetype and Human Design provide insight to what comes most naturally to you and what it looks like to live in alignment with your soul. I love helping women uncover their limiting beliefs and turning them into affirmations and I could talk about how “thoughts become things” forever! I am passionate about all of my certifications and it lights me up to share them.

Many people struggle with making their dreams a priority. What are some of the key tools or techniques you use to help women shift from dreaming to taking action?

Everyone’s dream is meant to be a reality. Otherwise, you wouldn’t imagine it. No one else’s dream is more important, they are all important and they are all connected.

Let me share the 6 Ls of Living Marvelously process –

Launch – Uncover what your dream life looks like.

Let Go –  What thoughts and beliefs are holding you back from achieving it?

Love – It is never selfish to be the best you can be. Love for yourself is crucial.

Live – What is the gap between your current reality and your dream life? What baby steps can we start taking?

Learn – Human Design, Dharma Archetype, and how to use the Universe to help you.

Leap – It’s time to use your power and put a plan in motion.

What a world we would live in if everyone was confident in living their most aligned and joyful life. We don’t know how much time we have, it’s time to get off the sideline and be who you came here to be.
