Your life story encompasses both joy and trauma. How have your personal experiences shaped your ability to spiritually midwife others through their own challenges?
Turning life experiences into wisdom has been my path. Learning from both the challenges and the Joys has given me the ability to empathize, be compassionate and be clear and strong with my clients in ways that come from experience, which is so valuable. Having survived and then learned to thrive in spite of divorces, financial challenges, illness and more, gives me a spark of enthusiasm and joy that is contagious to my clients, for they can feel hope that they too can move through their challenges and create lives that are healthy they love. The many accomplishments and high points of my life also have given me a sense of confidence that I impart to others as well, a credibility and proof that I am qualified to be a midwife and guide who leads with authenticity and integrity. Perhaps the wounded healers are the best, for we can understand the journey of life in ways others might not.
Can you share the significance of Kabbalistic numerology in your life and how it informed your decision to change your name?
About 15 years ago, I became aware that an acquaintance of mine had changed her name. I was curious about her reasons, and when I inquired, she told me that she had changed her name so it would resonate better with her birthdate. She had worked with a group called the Kabbalarians to find a name that would be harmonious and that promised to help her live up to her higher potential. I thought this sounded interesting, so I inquired and it resonated with me. I worked with them and over a period of a few years looked over lists of names, searching for the ones that felt right to me, and fit the numerology needed. I also wanted a name that had a spiritual meaning to me. While I had accomplished much with my former name, I also felt there were challenges that kept arising, and if changing my name could help stop those patterns, I was all for it. I finally found a name that felt right. Rhianne Teija NewLahnd. I wanted a name that would express how much I felt a part of creating a new way of living, a more beautiful enchanted life. I had to put an H in NewLahnd for it to work. Rhianne is a welsh name derived from the Goddess Rhiannon, Teija is a finnish name, and NewLahnd I made up.Basically the name means the Great Queen chosen to fashion a new land. I believe that every woman is the Queen of her own realm and can choose to fashion her life as a beautiful, powerful, enchanted healthy place. Slowly, my life did change in wonderful ways after I legally changed my name, so I am glad I did that. In many cultures, when one reaches a mature age, and becomes a teacher, there often is a name change given, so I feel it was the right thing for me to do.
What type of services do you offer?
My work has evolved over the last 35 + years, as I have learned to weave my intuitive skills, my hypnotherapy training, my energy work training, my years as a writer, performer and artist, and even my work as a gardener, into a beautiful unique method of inner healing and awakening work. I call this method “The Enchanted Heart Wisdom Circle”. My experience has taught me that at a foundational level, when we become dis-enchanted with our lives, everything can go downhill. We have no spirit, no enthusiasm or inspiration for our lives. So helping people to rediscover the magic and enchantment of life is my aim and my joy.
I do this currently in a few ways:
- I do individual sessions with people from all over the world who come to Sedon or want to connect through zoom with me. These sessions vary depending on what a person wishes to work on. I do sessions that are focused on healing, relationships, finding a true beloved, getting in touch with your purpose, and more. I have my own business, and work as a private consultant also for a premier retreat company here in Sedona. These sessions might include working with my unique system and many other modalities including guided visualization, clearing of negative energies, energy work and more.
- Wise woman within- This session uses The Enchanted Heart Wisdom Circle, which is composed of different archetypes , oracle cards, sacred gemstones, flower essences and more, all designed to help one access what I call the Wise Women Within. It is a form of connecting to our deep inner wisdom through the feminine. A system that is fun, deep, graceful and magical
- I offer couples sessions for those couples wishing to bring more grace, love, harmony, honesty, clarity and beauty into their lives
- I offer group sessions with women, using the Enchanted Heart system, and we dive into our different expressions as Wise Women, connecting to the Divine Feminine, doing ceremony, sharing our hearts, and receiving facilitation from me.
- At different times of the year, I create seasonal celebrations and events for the local women of Sedona, or visitors who will be here at that time.
- I do a few custom portraits for people each year, these are very intricate and involve fine art fabric collages, soon my artwork will be available in prints and other products as well.
I have some wonderful new projects in the works, which include new courses, a new website, and the publishing of my oracle system and offering training for facilitators wishing to learn how to use it in their work.
You speak of connecting to the Great Mother and the Sacred Feminine. How has this connection helped you heal, and how do you guide others to tap into this sacred energy?
At a time in my life when I was at a loss for how to heal my breaking heart, I had a spiritual experience while standing atop a red rock hill in Sedona almost 40 years ago. I was calling to have the magic back in my life, and my call was answered by the voice of the Great Mother or Divine Sacred Feminine. This was an activation of my inner connection to the Feminine aspect of Life. This connection, and attuning to this energy and following the guidance received, changed my life. I began to lead other women in groups, doing ceremonies, and rituals, gatherings in which we attuned to this energy and transformation for all of us abounded, and I had found my calling. I created songs, plays, writings, workshops and more, helping thousands of others attune to the feminine. Now I do that through my sessions, and soon, through my courses and books.
What role do the arts—writing, singing, and creating beautiful things—play in your process of helping people access the wisdom of their hearts?
As I have stated in previous answers, I have woven my love of the arts into my work. Using art, in my oracle system, in my writings, enhances the experience of my sessions. When I was performing my one woman musical play, it was truly sacred theater, a format that touched people and opened their hearts, helping them attune more deeply with who they are. My many articles are also designed to help people open to the amazing truth of what magnificent multi dimensional beings we are. I do want to say that, although my work has focused primarily with women, I have had the honor to work with many men ready to access the Divine Feminine as well, which is such a balancing and wonderful experience for them.
Having experienced both hopelessness and deep spiritual connection, how do you maintain your own sense of enchantment and joy in the face of life’s challenges?
Now that I have entered my 70’s, I consider myself a very wise woman. I have learned to live up to my name, and have fashioned a “land” to live in that is filled with love, beauty, harmony and joy most days. I have cultivated a wonderful love partnership with a man who is very balanced and supportive of the Divine Feminine. We have created a simple yet beautiful home surrounded by gardens that is practical in the sense that financially it is affordable, allowing us to eat the best food, have all our needs met and yet not be overworked or stressed or always striving for more and more. I spend a lot of time out of doors, in the garden mostly these days, with my hands in the dirt, grounding and connecting to nature, this helps so much. I have learned the kind of people that I thrive with, and have a community of beautiful, loving, creative friends that are mutually caring. I love to cook great food, harvest my herbs, do my sessions, make art, and every day to me is like a ceremony of gratitude to Life. My appreciation for this life is immense. I honor the simple things, listen to the birds, stop and smell the deep red roses growing in the garden. When facing the challenges that arise, like getting a serious case of covid, or navigating the illness and deaths of my parents, my connection with my inner wisdom and gratitude for life remain. I always feel loved, nurtured, held and supported. That to me is what a great mother does, and the Great Mother is always with me.
