Jayanti, you offer a wide range of healing modalities, from Reiki to Shamanic healing and Chakra balancing. What initially drew you to these practices, and how have they shaped your personal and professional journey over the years?
In the 80’s I was living in the Middle East when I started receiving the ‘call’ to return to Australia, by country of birth. These messages from spirit were ignored until I started experiencing many challenges in my path. This led me to surrender to the call and after 8 years of living overseas I returned to the Gold Coast. I always knew that I had a guardian angel looking over me keeping me safe, though once on home soil my angel started showing me that there was more for me to do, to learn, to experience.
Attending a weekly meditation group was the first significant step for me, opening me to the realization of the importance of inner connection and returning me to the path I had started on in my late teens. It helped me understand the essence of my soul and what I am truly here for.
I recognized that my purpose is to connect with my Soul Light and be that expression of my soul in the world while evolving to a higher consciousness while in this physical body.
Spiritual healing often focuses on restoring balance between the body, mind, and spirit. Can you share a transformative healing experience, either personally or with a client, that exemplifies the power of this holistic approach?
A number of years ago a male client came to me for a healing session. He had been diagnosed with extremely high cholesterol and his doctor was insisting that he go on medication for this. Before getting the script filled, he looked around for an alternative solution. He heard that chakra balancing could help. Never having had anything to do with spiritual healing he was skeptical, but decided to give it a try. Several weeks after his session I received a call from him to advise me that his cholesterol levels were now in a good range. He hadn’t done anything else but the healing session. He walked away being a believer.
For me, the journey of Reiki began with my personal experiences of opening up and feeling the energy flow through me. I witnessed the transformative power of that energy not only in my own healing but also in the healing sessions I facilitated for others.
My introduction to Reiki healing took place in India in Shri Haidakhan Babaji Ashram in the Kumoan mountains in 1995. At that time, I was serving as the president of the Australian Babaji Foundation and was also on the international executive committee. This role required me to step up significantly, especially since I was guiding a group that included eight Reiki practitioners and a Reiki Master. With all the extra activities I had on my plate I found myself feeling overwhelmed, particularly after losing my mother a year prior; I could sense her soul reaching out to connect with me amidst my many responsibilities.
During this intense period, a close friend traveling with me always seemed remarkably calm. I asked her what she was doing to maintain that sense of tranquility. She explained that every afternoon, she would retreat to her room to practice self-Reiki. That revelation was enlightening for me. I realized that while I had been naturally guided to spiritual healing for others, I did not have a healing practice that I could utilize for my own self-care and rejuvenation.
Determined to embrace this path, I surrendered to the idea of learning Reiki. Upon returning to Australia, I completed my first level of Reiki training, followed shortly after by the level II and this then became a pivotal part of my healing journey. It proved immensely beneficial, allowing me to integrate the practices I had already developed, such as leading meditation groups, conscious breathwork sessions and shamanic healings, into a holistic method of self-healing. Reiki has since served me on multiple levels — spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
Your retreats and tours to spiritual locations like Bali and India offer profound experiences for participants. What do you find most powerful about these sacred locations, and how do they contribute to one’s spiritual growth?
The first thing I would emphasize is that both of these locations are deeply rooted in Hinduism, which permeates the daily lives of their populations. People engage in various rituals to honor the divine every day. For the majority of Australians, the approach to spirituality has often been more fragmented; with some people attending church, while others practice their spirituality in quite a casual manner, and others have no concept of their inner essence often disconnected from any deeper sense of the divine.
Taking people to these countries opens them up to a new understanding of themselves as part of the divine fabric of existence. It highlights the importance of honoring the divine in our lives and recognizing that this sacred connection resides within all of us—whatever terminology we choose to use. In these countries, spirituality is not just an abstract concept; it is something that people live and breathe daily. This immersive experience can profoundly shift perspectives and foster a deeper sense of connection to oneself and the universe.
India has long been the spiritual home for many on the planet. While visiting Shri Babaji’s ashram for the Navaratri Festival, 9 nights in honor of the Divine Mother, we get to participate in ancient fire rituals and temple ceremonies where the Divine Mother is deeply honoured and the essence of the Divine Feminine is interwoven into our day to day lives.
The Bali retreats involve a daily program incorporating meditation practices focused on raising awareness, expanding consciousness to support spiritual awakening. Powerful healing techniques are used to clear emotional and energetic blockages, enabling participants to release past traumas and cultivate inner peace and clarity. Surrounded by the gentle and loving presence of the Balinese people, participants are immersed in an atmosphere that supports deep inner work and spiritual growth.
With over 25 years of experience, you’ve guided meditation groups and led numerous workshops. What changes have you noticed in how people seek and experience spiritual healing today compared to when you first started?
In earlier years people were seeking a way to end their emotional and mental suffering that was hindering them from getting what they wanted. Then to move on with their life. This approach would invariably see them slipping back into their previous patterns and behaviors, creating the same traumas on repeat.
In recent years we are seeing a more dedicated approach to one’s healing. People are eager to embrace a deeper dive into clearing their pathway to their inner connection. To become not only a better version of themselves, they are wanting to know themselves as the Soul that they are.
We are fortunate in our modern times as new modalities are coming to light. Many are discovering the benefits of sound therapy, crystal healing, energy healing, scalar wave energy, plant medicine and quite a few more. People are immersing themselves in therapies that have been, until recent times, either forgotten ancient knowledge or only available to indigenous cultures.
As we learn more about energy, how our consciousness works and who we are as human souls, we are changing our own personal worlds as well as the world around us.
Authentic growth requires deep exploration and a willingness to confront the wounds of the past to free ourselves to become the beautiful beings of Light that we truly are.
In your role as a spiritual mentor, how do you help individuals discover their inner gifts and life direction? What advice would you give to someone just beginning their spiritual journey?
I guide individuals to learn to listen to the whispers of their Soul and to let these whispers guide them towards their Soul path. By learning and practicing specific meditation techniques an individual will discover their inner gifts and open to hearing their Soul whispers and those too of their spirit guides. We all have spirit guides who work with us in our lives.
I love to do a person’s Soul blueprint where I use their specific numerology. This gives the person a great start to know their Soul’s direction this lifetime.
For someone just starting out on their journey, my advice is to remember that healing and growth may take time. Learn to be okay with the time it may take. We are living in an ‘instant’ society, don’t give up too soon. Those changes you seek could be in your next instance.
Empowering oneself is a crucial part of this process, and small, daily efforts will lead to significant transformation over time.
