In the latest edition of MysticMag interviews, Nassos Komianos shares his unique journey from psychology to hypnotherapy, driven by a desire to explore deeper realms of the human psyche. He discusses his groundbreaking concept of hypnoscopesis, regression therapy, and his work in spirit release, offering insights into the hidden layers of consciousness and the mysteries of the soul.
Can you share a few details about your professional beginning and what led you into this line of work?
Originally, I started off studying psychology deeply disappointed by the shallow approaches of most schools of thought. I knew that psychology as it was taught in my time – unfortunately the same holds for today – had nothing to do with the psyche or the essence of the soul. At best one could name it ‘behaviourology’ – yet another term of mine – which limits itself to the study of human actions and has nothing to do with the deep essences of the human spirit. I am never tired of making this joke in my public lectures: Would you ever trust a cardiologist that does not believe in the existence of the heart? The audience usually bursts laughing. The question that follows is: Then why on earth would you seek help from a psychologist? Psychologists usually do not laugh at this.
What is hypnoscopesis and how does it work?
Hypnoscopesis is a concept that I developed in order on the one hand to broaden and enlarge the semantics of the concept of hypnosis and on the other to make it more specific. The idea sprang up as I was working with Altered States of Consciousness (ASCs). What is important for us is that these states of consciousness differ significantly from the ordinary forms of consciousness that we live in everyday life and they can be achieved or triggered by a wide variety of inductions. In our case though we are particularly concerned with hypnotic forms of induction.
The question arises what happens as soon as we reach hypnotic trance? The answer is that we achieve inner insight. The Greek word for it is endoscopesis. Let us look at the explanation offered by a classic Greek Dictionary Helios:
Endoscopesis: 2. “It is a form of clairvoyance in which people that are in a hypnotic state, describe alterations or the presence of foreign bodies within their or somebody else’s organism.”
The joining of the terms hypnosis and endoscopesis coined the new concept hypnoscopesis. In modern terminology we would say that we have a “Search Engine” that sets forth to track down the root of our problem, that paradoxically, is most of the times very accurate and effective. The difference between hypnoscopesis and hypnosis, then, is that while in hypnosis we have a passive stance, in hypnoscopesis we have an active role and we willfully participate in the direction of tracking down the root of our problem. Unlike psychiatry which focuses on symptomatology I am trying to uncover what is hidden behind the symptoms.
Can you walk me through one of your regression therapies?
Not an easy task since no session resembles another, which also means that I am conducting one of the most fascinating professions in the world. After I ask my prospective clients to fill in an online intake form, by this means I get as much information as I can before they show up. Some of them are rejected at this point either because they are not hypnotizable or because there is a high possibility that a psychotic episode might be triggered. Once they ‘survive’ this prime screening process – most of them do – then we meet at my office where we try to approach the presenting problem with reason and rationalism.
Then what follows is a series of intense body movements to release stored physical energy and then a series of deep breathing which by and of itself can generate ASC’s. Then we go to proceed with a formal hypnotic induction and at the same time, I employ binaural sounds that enhance trance and get you even deeper. If the induction succeeds and my clients cross the boundary of consciousness, they then come with imagery and feelings that seem to be directly related to the source of the problem. They may find themselves in their younger years, or in their mother’s womb, or even further in the past in a circumstance that resembles a past-life condition. Thus I am also called a regression therapist since I am trained and equipped to also deal with former life residual content.
So, by definition in my practice, I come to accept both the existence of the soul, its survival of physical death, and the prospect of reincarnation, things that would lead mainstream scientists to dismiss me as a crook.
You are also an author. What books have you written and what are they about?
I have written two books dealing with the same topic, possession by lingering spirits of the dead as well as possession by non-human entities such as devious beings of the Shadow. One of my Eureka moments in my very first days that I started employing hypnosis was when I spontaneously ran into a case of spirit attachment by the grandfather of my client. It was my first spirit release and one of the greatest lessons in my life. This event radically changed my orientation in the course of my profession as it equally changed the life of my client to the better. It was then that I realized that hypnotherapy was not enough to deal with the soul. I thus discovered regression therapy and got trained by the best of the trade and even was honoured to serve on the Board of the Earth Association for Regression Therapy, EARTh (earthassociation.org), as Vice President (2009-2013) and President (2013-2015).
My first book is titled Rapid Entity Attachment Release, which is about another discovery of employing electroacupuncture for the deliverance of persistent spirit attachments who refuse to abandon the hosting body. It would be my dissertation if a university would be willing to accept it as my PhD thesis and it is oriented mostly for professionals.
My second book Unveiling Spiritual Intrusions was written during the two lockdowns. All of the sudden there was a pause in the tape of life and time sprang up out of the blue and I grasped the opportunity to write down the most shocking and thrilling cases that I encountered in my practice, hoping that this knowledge will not be lost and will be registered to the depository of human knowledge and experience. Despite the shocking accounts it can be read by the lay-reader who is not acquainted with psychology, hypnotherapy, or reincarnation theories. Readers have enough space to make their own judgements and reach their own conclusions.
I know that the content of both books is mind-bending but it is directed to open-minded readers willing to challenge the limited and directed mainstream consensus reality.
Life is a lot more than what our senses (human or scientifically extended) can grasp. No matter how much pain and darkness is stored in the human psyche, the final feeling is positive. Eventually, I hope and wish that all the individual psyches will gather so much experience that they will affect Jung’s collective unconscious and bring humanity out of the brink of extinction.
