In the latest MysticMag interview, Morgan Moss, founder of Inked Goddess Creations, shares the inspiring journey behind her thriving spiritual supply business. From the humble beginnings of a brick-and-mortar store to where Inked Goddess Creations is now, Morgan’s passion for offering affordable, high-quality spiritual products has driven the evolution of Inked Goddess Creations into a beloved resource for the witchcraft community.
What’s the story behind Inked Goddess Creations and how was it founded?
I owned a brick-and-mortar store called Static Moon about 15-20 years ago, but it didn’t stay open. However, the idea behind that store stayed alive within me. In 2013, I decided to start an Etsy store, offering candles, incense, and other spiritual supplies, much like my previous store. There was something I felt was missing in the market, and I wanted to go back to my roots of offering affordable spiritual supplies. The Etsy store quickly grew, and by 2015, we left Etsy and continued to expand. That’s how Inked Goddess Creations was founded, born from a desire to offer affordable spiritual supplies to people.
What is the IGC Box?
The IGC Box, which stands for Inked Goddess Creations Box, is a witchcraft subscription box that we started in 2016. The goal was to create an affordable option for people interested in witchcraft and spiritual supplies. Each month, we choose a theme and either create or curate products that fit that theme. We only reveal two to three sneak peeks before the box ships, so most of the contents are a surprise for our customers. The box has been running successfully for eight years, and I’m very proud of its ongoing success.
What items can people find in your shop?
In our shop, you can find a wide range of spiritual and witchcraft supplies, including candles, gemstones, jewelry, herbs, incense, altar items, spell oils, spell kits, and mists. Most of these items are either handmade by us or designed by us and produced elsewhere. We focus on providing unique and high-quality products to support various spiritual practices and needs.
What can you tell me about the Inked Spirit Coven and what can people hope to learn there?
The Inked Spirit Coven is a community I started about three years ago for like-minded witches to come together and learn. With over 25 years of experience in witchcraft, it’s my way of sharing what I’ve learned and providing guidance. If I don’t know something, I direct members to the right resources for learning.
The coven serves as a supportive space for witches at all levels, from beginners to those who have been practicing for 30 or 40 years. Currently, we’re working on “rewilding your inner witch,” which involves exploring the elements throughout the seasons. We transition from the fire element of summer to the water element of fall, with each month featuring a deep dive into a specific element. This includes a lesson and a live workshop on Zoom, where members can ask questions, learn my methods, and interact with each other, fostering a rich, supportive learning environment.
You also host a podcast. Can you share a few details about that part of your work?
I started the “Busy, Gritty, Inked, and Witchy” podcast about two years ago as a hobby and a fun way to share my interests. It serves as an outlet for teaching and discussing current events in the witchcraft community. Many members of the Inked Spirit Coven initially discovered the coven through the podcast, drawn to the information and resonating with my vibe. The podcast has become an extension of the coven, with some episodes serving as introductions to topics that I explore more deeply within the coven.
Is there anything else about your work that you’d like to share that we haven’t covered?
The only thing I’d like to add is that we’re a small family-owned business, with just five or six of us running everything. My husband and I own the business together, and I work closely with our creative director, who is also a witch. This means that all our products are either made or designed by witches for witches, ensuring authenticity and relevance for your spiritual journey. I believe this is what makes us unique—we’re a small business run by witches, dedicated to creating products that genuinely support and enhance your spiritual path.
