Have you ever wondered how an unexpected connection can spark a lifelong mission? Today, Mystic Mag had the opportunity to interview Liz Clifton, a life coach who discovered her calling in the most heartwarming way – through her rescue dog Zara.
When did you first know that being a Life Coach was your calling and how did it come about?
I first knew that I wanted to be a life coach whilst sitting silently with our first Romanian street rescue dog Zara on our kitchen floor. Through rehabilitating her I also rehabilitated myself after choosing to step out of a dysfunctional 15 year relationship. Together we built our self confidence, trust and self care as we began to use our choices and voices together. At that moment of clear, calm connection I felt an overwhelming despite and drive to help others do the same. So Family Dog Connection Limited and the take34u mission were born.
What services do you offer?
I’m on a mission to empower at least 3 million individuals of any species to create the clear, calm, connected confidence and communication to choose to be themselves with anyone, anywhere at anytime and enjoy at least 3 minutes daily self-care through: calm holistic life coaching, intuitive and spiritual calm leadership mentoring, Reiki and Animal Reiki sessions and training of all levels, Calm Club monthly group membership, team building, self care, calm mindset, holistic wellness, connected communication and confidence workshops, motivational and inspirational talks and presentations.
Could you tell us more about your Reiki practice and how does it help?
Reiki translates as universal energy and it is a gentle, natural way to relax.
By drawing on your own innate ability to relax, release and process your natural energy and emotions it helps you to let go of anything no longer serving you.
It’s such a pleasure to support people and many other species to pause and take time to reconnect to themselves as they enjoy the supreme self care of Reiki and Animal Reiki.
It’s supported me and my clients to get clear, calm, relaxed and rebalanced through many different life experiences.
For me it’s one of my favourite wellbeing practices to help me release old stress, anxiety, overwhelm, sadness, hurt, guilt, grief, frustration and anger as easily and effortlessly as possible.
Whether sharing a self Reiki session or allowing the energy to flow freely through me to support others it’s always a refreshing, cleansing and relaxing experience for me.
I feel that the loving light energy flows through me, clearing away any of my old emotional and energetic blockages first.
Then it continues to flow additional loving energy through to support others that I’m sharing it with.
How do you help a person achieve the state of full relaxation?
The first step is to ensure that they feel comfortable and safe whether it’s an in person or virtual session.
This can be achieved by gently bringing their awareness to the natural rhythm of their breath or a similar present moment activity.
From here I often share a simple 3 second relaxation practice such as this super simple breathing practise:
Breathe in for the count of 1
Breathe out for the count of 2
As the outbreak is longer it enables them to calmly start to relax, slow their breathing rate and heart rate just a little.
From this space I will gently begin to share Reiki if my client is human.
If it is an animal client I would instead simply offer them the opportunity to receive the Animal Reiki if they want to.
Music can also support people to relax and I will sometimes use relaxing solfeggio or binaural beats music, singing bowls, tingsha or chimes to help reach pure relaxation.
For others a breath of fresh air, water or trees can support a natural calm relaxed state so I always work with what my clients prefer and flex my practices accordingly.
What can a person expect from your sessions?
Every session is unique and flows naturally around the individual clients needs, wants and preferences. I have a vast range of skills, experiences and collected wisdom that I use to support my clients of all species to the very best of my ability.
What do you love most about your profession?
I absolutely love the ripple of calm that flows from me to my clients and out to their loved ones, clients and colleagues of all species.
To be able to support others to find and start using their choices and voices is priceless.
As is watching people physically stand taller after releasing their old stacked stresses and negative emotions.
Being able to guide someone back to their deepest self connection, self awareness, self acceptance, self understanding, self forgiveness and self love is the most amazing honour and it absolutely thrills and fulfills me every time.
