Unlocking Holistic Health: Kerry Magnus on Integrating Mind, Body, and Spirit

Unlocking Holistic Health: Kerry Magnus on Integrating Mind, Body, and Spirit

Kerry Magnus’s journey into holistic health and coaching began in the realm of conventional psychology, driven by a deep curiosity to explore beyond the mind’s confines.

In an interview with MysticMag, she shared how an eye-opening encounter with hypnotherapy revealed the profound connection between the body and mind, inspiring her to delve deeper into alternative healing methods. Her exploration led her to a kinesiologist, whose intuitive approach profoundly influenced Kerry’s path.

Over time, Kerry integrated BodyTalk and other holistic techniques, transforming her practice to address the intricate balance of body, mind, and spirit.

What inspired you to start your journey in holistic health and coaching?

I began in a very conventional way as a psychologist but even while studying I had a sense that there was more to it all than just the mind. I had also been in therapy for some time and felt I’d hit a ceiling with my healing journey. I guess I’ve always been a seeker.

I started exploring hypnotherapy to better understand the deeper unconscious and when I witnessed someone being burned but with no burn mark on their skin (during a lecture) I became aware of the incredible connection between body and mind.

Around the same time I was told of a woman who does ‘weird’ healing so I went along to see her. She was a psychologist and kinesiologist as well as very intuitive. I decided then and there that I would become like her. It was only years later, after having added the incredible BodyTalk technique to my toolbox, that I realized that I had actually indeed become like her as BodyTalk was based on the principles of kinesiology (plus more).

Can you explain the key principles behind your approach to holistic health?

I support women to overcome chronic fatigue and burnout by addressing body, mind, and spirit imbalances. I had experienced Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome and, despite my awareness of the body and mind connection, I focussed quite heavily on supplements and the medical field to provide a quick fix as I was desperate to be able to function and be the wife and mother and healer that I felt I could be.

I finally realized that it was the way I experienced life and reacted to life that caused me to become so depleted. I saw this in my clients too. I now call it the Holding Personality. This is a trauma-informed personality that develops to help us feel in control, safe, and worthy and it’s exhausting!

It’s also deeply cut off from our true selves and from a true feeling of safety in the world and it comes with a very dysregulated nervous system.

When I started to address my nervous system dysregulation (body), my belief systems and trauma (psychology/mind – and very connected to the body), and my sense of being safe in the world (through a spiritual focus of balanced and healthy masculine and feminine energy)  that was when the magic began and I not only started to feel more vitalized but my whole life changed – my relationships, my purpose, my business, where I lived – all for the better and all aligned with my soul’s calling.

I believe that chronic exhaustion is a message from the body that something is out of balance and an opportunity to connect back to the body, and back to your truth.

How do you help clients achieve balance in their lives?

In my Fatigue to Flow coaching, I use BodyTalk, principles of therapy, and intuitive coaching as I guide clients through my unique 5 phase process to:

1) Become conscious of how the Holding Personality and patterns show up in their lives (Awareness Phase);

2) Create a sense of safety and healing the nervous system by connecting to the body, connecting to the inner child, and connecting to a deeper spirituality and trust of life through connection with divine masculine and feminine energy (Connection Phase);

3) Release old trauma patterns through a technique called BWRT and addressing patterns of cumulative stress and holding in the nervous system (Release Phase);

4) Access intuition and open to their true needs to receive what is alignment versus what the trauma-informed and socially conditioned personality seeks (Receive Phase) and, finally;

5) Allow flow, shift perceptions of challenges as transformation, to leverage the masculine and natural cycles and rhythms for increased energy and manifestation (flow phase).

Strengthening the relationship to the sacred feminine and sacred sexuality (which is lifeforce!) underpins all the above.

What are some common issues you help clients address?

Most of them come to me feeling overwhelmed; out of control; exhausted yet wired and unable to rest; feeling that they can be so much more but not having the motivation, energy or clarity to achieve that; and generally knowing that it’s time to change something to be the better versions of themselves that they know they can be.

Can you share a success story from your work with a client?

I worked with a client who had experienced chronic fatigue from 16 years old and had to drop out of school. She’d barely had an experience of life out of her house and had lost so much.

During the coaching with me, she started taking longer and longer walks outside and as I have continued some ad hoc coaching with her she is now in the process of completing her high school diploma and is preparing for her driver’s license!

What advice would you give to someone looking to improve their holistic well-being?

EVERYTHING you experience as a symptom is a message and an opportunity. There is no good or bad. If you can learn to connect to your body, allow whatever is happening, and hold space for the symptoms, then balance will come and what needs to be processed can be processed. Usually when we have support that helps us to do this faster and with more ease as the connection with other/s calms the nervous system and brings a beautiful energetic container for healing to happen in.
