Harmonizing Space and Spirit: Dr. Jessie Mercay on Integrating Ancient Wisdom with Modern Architecture

Welcome to our latest blog series on MysticMag, where we explore the insights from Dr. Jessie Mercay’s interview about the pioneering work at AUM Science & Technology.

This institution uniquely blends ancient Indian architectural principles from Vaastu Shastra with contemporary construction methods, aiming to enhance well-being and prosperity through its educational offerings. Dr. Mercay highlights the Guru Kulam teaching method, underscoring its importance in preserving and deeply transmitting traditional knowledge.

Join us as we delve into how these age-old practices are being adapted for modern applications, profoundly affecting both personal and professional realms.

What is the main focus of AUM Science & Technology, and how does it integrate traditional Indian architectural principles with modern practices?

AUM Science & Technology specializes in Mayonic Science and Technology, a body of knowledge deeply rooted in traditional Indian architectural principles, specifically Vaastu Shastra.

This approach is not only about constructing spaces but also about harmonizing the structures with cosmic principles to enhance well-being and prosperity. The institute strives to preserve this ancient wisdom while applying it in modern contexts, providing a comprehensive educational experience that spans theoretical understanding and practical application.

Can you describe the Guru Kulam teaching method used at AUM S&T and its importance in preserving traditional knowledge?

The Guru Kulam system is a traditional teaching method where students have a close, almost familial relationship with their teachers.

This system is crucial for transmitting knowledge in its purest form, ensuring that teachings are not just passed on but are deeply understood and respected. At AUM S&T, this method allows for the preservation and accurate transfer of Vaastu knowledge, ensuring that each generation of students receives the wisdom in a way that maintains its integrity and depth.

How does AUM S&T’s curriculum cater to the needs of professionals from various fields, and what can students expect from the programs?

AUM S&T offers a curriculum that is comprehensive and specialized, appealing to a wide range of professionals including architects, designers, and builders, as well as those interested in spiritual and ecological aspects of living spaces. Students can expect to gain a deep understanding of Mayonic Science and Technology/Vaastu shastras, which they can apply to enhance both their professional skills and personal lives.

The courses are designed to be holistic, covering both theoretical aspects and practical applications, ensuring that students are well-prepared to use this knowledge in a variety of settings.

We are beginning a new series in July 2024. For more information go to www.aumscience.com

What makes Self Recognition Meditation (SRM)™ unique compared to other forms of transcending meditation?

SRM is distinct because it uses mantras that are vibrationally compatible with each meditator, rather than being randomly selected or chosen based on age. This personalized approach helps ensure that the meditation is more effective and resonant for the individual.

Also, how the mantra is used differs from most other meditation forms. SRM is the only meditation form based on an ancient text called Pranava Veda. This ancient Veda, called the first Veda by Veda Vyasa in his Bhagavatam, is also the source of Vaastu Shastras, Traditional Karnatica music, Traditional South Indian Dance, music, sculpture, poetry/literature, painting, and drawing. We have seen that it is an upgrade to just about every meditation technique available today.

Can you explain how SRM addresses both material and spiritual well-being?

SRM is designed to promote overall well-being. For those seeking material success, it can enhance calmness, clarity, and productivity, potentially leading to greater material gains. For those focused on spiritual growth, regular practice deepens awareness and fosters a more profound spiritual awakening than what is typically achieved through mindfulness or other transcending meditation forms.

Through SRM, meditators have a direct and aware experience of the Consciousness within. We have instructed long-term meditators who practiced Transcending meditation for years.

They report that SRM is more profound and offers a deep experience in which they maintain awareness.  In other words, with other transcending meditations, the meditator tends to go blank with no awareness. They lose their awareness while transcending and while in the transcendent state. With SRM they maintain awareness even in the transcendent state. Being aware in that state provides a conscious experience and relationship with their Inner Being.

What are the core components of the SRM program and how accessible is it to beginners?

The SRM program requires only 15-30 minutes of meditation twice a day, making it accessible to people of all ages and physical conditions. It does not necessitate strenuous postures or extensive prior experience, emphasizing ease and simplicity in its practice.

Advanced classes and group meditations are available regularly to support meditators. We are beginning a course called Self Recognition Inquiry © at the end of May 2024 that will be chocked full of amazing knowledge. It is not just a rehash of Vedic knowledge like many meditation programs.  We will be providing deep knowledge not generally known but verified in ancient texts.
