What’s the story behind Carter James Coaching and how was it founded?
As a registered nurse for nearly 28 years, I have seen how broken the healthcare system is. Instead of preventing illness, the system is designed to “react to” illness. Thus costing millions of dollars each year. As a society, we should change our focus to preventative medicine. This was the driving force for founding Carter James Coaching. I named the business in honor of my son whom I miscarried several years ago.
What services do you offer?
The services offered are coaching, reiki, meditation, nutrition, and body movement. I am certified as a reiki practitioner as well as a meditation coach. I work with all clients and have several specialties – diabetes, cancer, and special needs parents. I am very passionate about special needs since my son is blind and autistic. I feel that I can support special needs parents with my own experiences as a special needs mom and navigating a difficult system.
What can you tell me about your approach to coaching?
My approach to coaching is client-centered. The first session I spend with my client is all about getting to know them and their needs. I want to know what outcome will make them feel as if our time together has been beneficial. I also want to make sure that they feel safe and supported. I am extremely honored that they picked me to work with and I want to honor them as well.
Can you walk me through a Reiki session?
In a typical Reiki session, I will sit with the client and explain the process. I want them to feel comfortable and safe. I will explain to them that I do not touch them unless they request it. Energy work does not need to include physical touch. I use aromatherapy and crystals to help with the flow of energy. I also want them to know that they may have an emotional response later because of energy shifts. I will then have them lay on their back. I place crystals on the chakra areas of their body and begin the session.
Do you have any special messages for our readers?
I feel very passionate about my work as a wellness practitioner. I believe that we should all be living our best life and I want to help people find that.
