Can you explain your journey into becoming a Craniosacral Therapist/Bach Flower Remedy Practitioner? What drew you to this field and how has your practice evolved over time?
My start into the world of Craniosacral Therapy happened in a very interesting way. Following learning in the field of healing and massage therapy I received a very clear message that I should study Craniosacral Therapy. I heard this as a voice instruction which came to me 3 times in a period of 3 weeks, just after I had moved house. I ignored it the first two times, which I believe was my higher self speaking to me, then on the third occasion I opened my laptop and googled “where to train as a Craniosacral Therapist”. That was 10 years ago and since then I have been fortunate to have a thriving practice.
Bach Flower Remedies had always interested me but when my daughter was very anxious as a teenager, she loved the Rescue Remedy Pastilles and then I discovered that Dr Bach had lived quite near me in Oxfordshire. So, I went along to attend a course and fell in love with the flowers and their healing qualities. They work very well for my clients alongside a cranial approach, to support emotional well-being.
What role do you believe Craniosacral Therapy/Bach Flower Remedies play in promoting holistic health and well-being? How do you integrate these modalities into a comprehensive wellness plan for your clients?
Both are beautiful, natural and gentle ways to offer support, balance and healing in the body. Both are very synchronistic in helping my clients in a physical and mental/emotional way. There is also, I believe, a spiritual component but you don’t have to have a belief system or believe anything for these modalities to work and have a positive impact.
What type of services do you offer?
I offer both modalities to babies, children, young adults, adults, and the elderly. There is no age limit, and I treat from newborn as both approaches are very gentle.
What ethical considerations do you keep in mind when practicing Craniosacral Therapy/Bach Flower Remedies, particularly in terms of client consent, confidentiality, and boundaries?
As a member of the Craniosacral Therapy Association of the UK I follow their standards and guidelines. Similarly, I am registered with the Bach Centre UK and follow their professional guidelines.
What personal qualities do you believe are essential for success in the field of Craniosacral Therapy/Bach Flower Remedies, and how do you embody these qualities in your practice?
I think every practitioner should always follow a continuing path of CPD for their profession and continue to hone their techniques and working practices with qualified teachers who specialize in their field. Learning never stops! I am also a believer in great self-care and ensuring my own life is as clear as possible so I can be open and grounded for my clients.
What do you love the most about your profession?
I love the fact that we work with the inherent wisdom of the body, which knows everything, and so we learn to be great listeners. Bodies are incredibly wise; we honor that wisdom which is unique to every individual. We also work deeply in the anatomy of the craniosacral system, which is physical anatomy and that’s very important to understand so we understand our clients as much as possible. There is a soft, humble, and quiet quality about cranial work which is all about stillness and love. That, I believe, is where true healing begins. Our clients come to us with their body and mind, and we attempt to help them to decipher that information, feel it, and understand it. This way they can develop a more positive connection to their body and all that is.
