MysticMag chats with Alex Sands, the Founder of SKIN/CRAFT, who discovered her calling as an energetic facialist in the fall of 2019, and embarked on a journey that led to the creation of her unique brand. Can you explain the concept of SKIN/CRAFT’s all-inclusive menu-style approach to skin rituals and how it simplifies the booking process for clients?
As an esthetician there are a lot of ways we can customize a treatment, or as I like to call them “skin rituals”. A lot of providers will have a base price for a service and then “upsell” the service by adding on enhancements. The other option you’ll see is an offering of many different services that are built around certain modalities. I’ve tried both and have found that my ideal client/customer doesn’t want to have to stress about what to pick or what they need. They’d rather show up and let me, the professional, create the ultimate ritual without any fuss. That is what our all-inclusive menu style offers. Clients simply book the timeframe they’d prefer, ranging from 90 minutes to 2 hours and 30 minutes, and they will get access to every luxury, result driven, and holistic modality we have.
Could you elaborate on the “hands-on consultation” that new clients start with and how it helps in understanding their skin’s history and goals?
Our hands on consultation is an in-depth verbal consult paired with a high touch skin analysis. We start the consult with an open discussion of the clients skin + energy history, their regimen, lifestyle, goals, ect. This is followed by a modality free “mini” treatment or in professional terms “skin analysis”. This is my time to see how the client’s skin feels, responds to touch and manipulation, as well as how it absorbs product. These tiny details provide insight on what is going on with the skin and what it needs support with when it comes to treatments and at home product use. At the end of the consultation, I provide the client with a suggested treatment plan and home care regimen based on the analysis to ensure they are set up for success!
It’s important to note: I offer an elaborate consultation with a mini treatment so clients can get a feel for my treatment style and get to know me before they jump into and invest in one of my full rituals. It’s a win-win for both of us!
The ProCell Microchanneling is mentioned as a separate service. Could you provide more information about this treatment and the screening process involved before booking?
Great question! Procell Microchannelling is a minimally invasive treatment where a needled tip is gently stamped onto the skin to create a micro-injury. This results in the creation of new collagen and elastin aka more youthful skin! Due to this, all clients are required to be screened to ensure they are a candidate for this treatment and do not have any contraindications (factors that would indicate it is not safe to perform such as: cancer, pregnancy, cystic acne, ect).
The LYMA Laser offers instant results. Can you delve into the key features of this modality and the technologies or techniques used to achieve such quick transformations?
Oh the LYMA laser! This has quickly become one of my FAVORITE modalities to use on clients for many reasons. The first reason being it is a cold laser technology, which means it does not require thermal injury (heat) to create changes in the skin. So you’re met with a zero
downtime application that is way more effective due to its ability to penetrate deep into the skin tissues, as well as the fat and muscle tissues underneath. The second reason being, it is 100x more powerful than traditional LED. In simple terms, one could say this means 1 LYMA laser treatment is equivalent to 100 LED treatments. This is possible due to the ultra-diffused lens that delivers targeted, controlled power through all the layers of the skin. I always like to ask clients: “how quickly do you want to get where you’re going?” in terms of their skin goals. The LYMA laser offers a fast track to the end goal in a safe, holistic and cost effective way!
