With your impressive background as a third-generation psychic-medium and your extensive experience, could you share a memorable or particularly profound moment from your psychic practice that has had a lasting impact on you?
I have several that come to mind, and I don’t have to think back too far to recall them.
One of the most recent ones involved a client in England. She’s originally from the United States but was spending time in England because her boyfriend, who is black, had been wrongfully arrested a couple of years ago. I could sense right away that he was innocent, and he was understandably very scared and nervous. He ended up being on remand in jail for over a year, even though he was a 30-year-old, training to be an accountant, and a good person. During his reading, I told him that he didn’t do anything wrong and that he would be found not guilty, though they shouldn’t even have taken him to trial. Unfortunately, they didn’t listen to my advice, and they had no evidence against him. However, he was eventually found not guilty, and his girlfriend sent me a message in to share the news, which had me in tears!. Later on, he started hearing voices, possibly due to PTSD, and my spirit guide conveyed a clear message to him through me to stop taking his medication. When he followed this advice, (after consulting with his doctor) the voices disappeared. This experience was a reaffirmation of the work I do, and it was incredibly emotional for me to hear about his improvement.
Another profound moment happened when I participated in an online fundraiser with a group of psychics and mediums from around the world. We raised funds for a man in Senegal who was losing his eyesight and had no access to proper medical treatment. He was a father of young children and feared he wouldn’t be able to see them grow up. Through our efforts, we raised enough money for him to afford medication and receive a referral to one of the world’s leading eye treatment centers. He regained his eyesight and could witness his children’s lives unfolding. Being part of that effort, where we didn’t charge for our readings because it was a fundraiser, was exceptionally profound and heartwarming. I was privileged to participate in two of these fundraisers, and together, we raised the $30,000 to $40,000 needed for his recovery.
I also had the opportunity to appear on the show “Real Housewives of NYC,” which was a nerve-wracking experience for me, as I had never seen the show before. Nevertheless, I agreed to participate in a session with the housewives, where we conducted what I thought was a séance (though interpretations of séances vary). We sat around a table, and I provided messages to the housewives, along with my colleague. This moment was profound because it allowed me to interact with these well-known individuals face-to-face, and it also strengthened my confidence, thanks to the support of my spirit guides and loved ones, and the meditation I did before the session. I had a vision of my mother and two male friends coming to assist me, which gave me the reassurance I needed.
Lastly, a deeply significant moment for me was when my boyfriend, who has a background in technology, decided to explore psychic development. I paid for his psychic development classes, initially thinking he would just try a few sessions out of curiosity. To my surprise, he completed all the classes, certifications, and even internships. He later expressed his intention to pursue ministry training as well, which he paid for himself. Witnessing his dedication and seeing him through this journey was incredibly fulfilling. I got to participate in his ordination at church in 2017, which made me immensely proud. Seeing him transform from an IT professional to a minister was a powerful and meaningful experience.
These are some of the most profound moments I’ve had in my psychic practice, and they continue to inspire and motivate me in my work.
You have a unique connection to historical figures like Lord Frederick North. How has your family’s lineage and heritage influenced your spiritual journey and your work as a psychic-medium?
My father has never been a believer in any of this, but there’s an interesting family connection that has profoundly influenced my path. My great-grandmother, Annie Messenger, was a spiritualist in London. She used to hold séances, and her flat was located in the Belgravia area of London. As part of her legacy, she left behind a list of spiritualist books to be read, hidden in the family Bible, and other significant texts. These books have been passed down through the generations, and I’ve taken it upon myself to work my way through that list, one book at a time. Some of these books were also part of my own training, while others are a bit outdated. Nevertheless, it’s been a meaningful journey to explore these texts.
My interest in this spiritual work began at a very young age. I knew from the time I was six or seven years old that I wanted to pursue this path. I remember my father, who was a descendant of Lord North and Annie Messenger, would sit me on his lap during family gatherings. I was around seven years old, and he would have a deck of playing cards. He’d take a card and place it on my head facing outwards, saying, “Okay, Marion, I’ll give you a shilling if you can tell me what that card is.” I would often guess the card correctly, but little did I know that my father, (being an adult), had a good idea of what was going on. Nevertheless, it was a fun family activity, and he’d keep challenging me, offering “double or nothing” until I finally got a card wrong. It was in those moments that I realized my passion for this work, even as a young girl. I knew that one day, I would delve deeper into these abilities.
My journey into this field took a detour, as in the 1970s, career options in England, were quite limited for women, and the choices were often teaching, nursing, or secretarial work. My father encouraged me to pursue a secretarial career and sent me to college, where I excelled in shorthand and typing exams, achieving remarkable (handwritten) shorthand speed of 160 words per minute. This skill aided me enormously when I came to the United States, where I found a job at a consulate and later at the United Nations.
Despite my secretarial career, I was simultaneously building my psychic abilities on the side. I continued my psychic development while working in secretarial roles. Then, a significant event occurred when I experienced an unlawful termination, which led to a legal battle. It was during this challenging period that I made the decision to fully commit to my spiritual work. In 2014, I established my company, The British Psychic Inc., and have been working full-time in this field ever since.
My journey has been a winding one, shaped by family history, personal experiences, and a deep-seated passion for spiritual work. It’s a path I’ve followed since childhood, and it eventually led me to where I am today.
Your journey includes training in London at the Arthur Findlay College of Spiritualism and later earning Board certifications in New York. How have these experiences and different cultural backgrounds impacted your life and work?
I’ve noticed that there are significant differences in how psychic development is approached in the United States, compared to the United Kingdom. This isn’t a criticism, but rather an observation. In general, the American perspective tends to be more lightweight, with individuals sometimes taking a one- or two-week psychic course and then setting up shop as a psychic, charging money for their services. On the other hand, the British approach to training is more in-depth and focused on evidential mediumship. In the UK, clients often demand concrete evidence rather than just taking a psychic’s word for it.
I personally found the training in England to be much more profound. The emphasis on providing evidence and making accurate predictions was rigorous, and it made me a stronger psychic practitioner. I particularly enjoyed taking classes at the Arthur Findlay College in the UK. In contrast, the classes I attended in New York were very good, but the training style was somewhat different. At times, it almost seemed as if some Americans were more interested in instant gratification.
In England, you don’t get instant gratification in the field of psychic development. You have to prove yourself to the examiners, demonstrating that your work is correct, that you can produce evidential mediumship, and that your predictions are accurate. This rigorous approach ensures that only those who truly excel and meet high standards pass the exams.
I like to think that I’ve blended the best aspects of both approaches. I’ve never been one to seek the spotlight or crave attention. Instead, I believe in proving what I do through my work. This approach has led to opportunities coming to me in a low-key manner over time.
Psychic development and teaching seem to be a significant part of your work. What advice do you have for individuals who are interested in developing their own psychic abilities or embarking on a spiritual journey?
For individuals interested in developing their psychic abilities or embarking on a spiritual journey, I would advise them to focus on building credibility. Differentiate yourself from the many legitimate and not-so-legitimate psychics out there. Certifications can be a good way to establish credibility. I also chose to incorporate my practice as a company to demonstrate my legitimacy to the IRS, even though the name “The British Psychic” might have raised some eyebrows. Honesty and transparency are crucial.
Practice, study, and avoid falling for quick-fix solutions like “learn tarot in a day.” Such shortcuts often undermine the depth of the work and the credibility of the practitioner. Take yourself seriously and put in the effort. While everyone has some degree of psychic ability, becoming a good psychic requires dedication and training. Only a few truly exceptional psychics stand out in the field.
In conclusion, my approach is old-school, and I firmly believe that if you’re going to pursue psychic development, you should do it properly or not at all. It’s about respecting the craft and the integrity of the work. Just as Barbara Streisand took singing classes and Picasso took art lessons, even the most gifted individuals benefit from training and discipline.
The field of psychic-mediumship often involves helping people connect with loved ones who have passed away. What do you find most fulfilling about facilitating these connections, and how do you approach such readings with sensitivity and compassion?
Proving the existence of psychic abilities and the afterlife is incredibly fulfilling. It’s the moments when you can tell someone something that nobody else could have known that truly stand out. Even skeptics like my dad couldn’t deny the power of these experiences. When I provide a specific name or piece of information that resonates with a person, it’s undeniable proof that there’s something beyond what we can perceive with our physical senses.
For those interested in exploring this further, I can recommend a couple of books that provide compelling evidence of the afterlife. “The Afterlife of Billy Fingers” by Annie Kagan is a moving account of her communication with her deceased brother. And “Dying to Be Me” by Anita Moorjani shares her near-death experience, where she had a choice to return from terminal cancer or move on to the afterlife. These stories offer powerful testimony to the existence of something beyond our physical world.
As for my own journey, I have my weaknesses like anyone else. I’m not 100% accurate in all situations, and sometimes I can misinterpret the signals. The most challenging aspect for me is finding the right balance between honesty and compassion. When I see someone in a harmful or abusive situation, my inclination is to be blunt and urge them to try to get out of it. I even offer referrals – lists of resources that I keep for my clients. However, I’ve learned that I must balance my honesty with compassion. It’s a delicate act, especially when I’m a mandated reporter, which means I’m legally obligated to report certain situations, such as child abuse, to protect those in need.
I also rely on my spirit guides for guidance. I’m clairvoyant and clairaudient, which means I both see and hear messages from the spirit world. My spirit guide, who happens to have be a doctor in this life, is the one who provided the advice to encourage a client to stop taking medication. I’m not a medical professional by any means, so this guidance was crucial.
One of the ongoing challenges is dealing with skeptics and naysayers. There will always be those who doubt or criticize what I do, but it’s a reminder that not everyone will understand or appreciate this work.
In the end, the journey of a psychic and medium is a complex and multifaceted one. It involves navigating between the realms of evidence, compassion, honesty, and skepticism while staying true to one’s calling and principles. It’s a path that requires resilience and a deep connection to the spiritual world.
