MysticMag chats with Alicia O’Sullivan, an accomplished psychic, healer, therapist and yoga, who has been working with Spirit since 1992.
Born in Purley, Surrey in October 1969, Alicia now lives in Doncaster, South Yorkshire with her King Charles Cavalier, Bonnie, and primarily works from home helping others wherever she can.
You offer a unique combination of psychic readings and Reiki healing. How do these two disciplines complement each other, and what kind of benefits can clients expect from experiencing both in a single session?
Both disciplines compliment each other extremely well, as a much bigger picture of a client can be explored. The psychic reading can primarily open up the ‘onion layers’ and the Reiki serves to reinforce the reading, promote healing and reveal anything that may have been missed or unexplored in the psychic half of the session.
Clients can expect a full range of emotions, learn about their destiny and make up as well as feel extremely calm and relaxed after a session.
With your diverse expertise in Reiki, palmistry, crystal ball, psychometry, and more, how do you determine which specific discipline or combination is best suited for each client during a reading or healing session?
My response to this question, and working with Spirit for over 30 years is that Spirit knows!
Experience plays a big part as well, of course. Each client is completely unique and has to be treated as such and no reading or healing session is ever the same, even with a regular client.
One of my clients kindly consented to this quote to be used:
“When I first met Alicia, I was at conflict in my life from work, family and my love life. We started with the Tarot cards confirming the hole that I was stuck in and the journey ahead.
Since then Alicia and I have been working through Reiki healing and Past Life Regression which has connected with me and helped me understand some of my feelings of connection, and why I felt drawn to certain areas of life.
On my journey with Reiki Healing I found myself becoming more grounded, which has had a positive effect on how I deal with certain high, stressful situations, which would’ve normally ruined days of my life but now just seem to roll off my shoulders
I can only thank Alicia for all the hard work she’s has done. x”
Having worked with Reiki energy for 27 years and being attuned to various Reiki disciplines, could you share some examples of how Reiki has brought about healing and transformation in your clients’ lives?
I can certainly give general examples of how Reiki has transformed clients’ lives.
This is one of my clients quotes:
“The Reiki was amazing. Alicia was very accurate picking up on energies and could tie in emotions connected with past traumas.
I found it very ‘releasing’ and extremely healing. Upon leaving, I felt very ‘lifted’.”
When I worked for Mind in Doncaster and offered a relaxation, meditation and Reiki group for them, you could really see how it brought people on. For the most part, the clients there all said how relaxed they felt after Reiki. I did have one client there who could not sit still for a minute before he had Reiki but I soon taught him the principles of Reiki and before long, he could sit for long periods of time, and enjoy its benefits.
Symbolism and colour are often seen and felt by my mind’s eye when I give Reiki to clients.
I had one client who was having a diagnosis of high blood pressure and neck pain. The first session, I felt the head to be extremely hot and red in colour, as though there was a lot of inner anger and frustration going on in his life. He was also going through a period of trying to divorce his partner of many years without any success. On the second session, the client was suffering from an extremely painful neck which nothing seemed to remedy. During this session, I managed to balance the throat chakra more with its traditional colour of blue. I also felt a past life for this client which was that they had been quite high up in the court of Henry VIII and that he had been beheaded. Therefore, his ex was literally being a pain in the neck in this life. I was also drawn to say, that they had to make the first initial move towards asking for a divorce. Since then, the client has become much more assertive with regard to his ex wife.
Lots of people assume Reiki is just for physical ailments, which it is, of course, in part.
But it offers so much more than that…..
“Alicia’s student needed a client and I needed some help in reducing my pain levels, a general body MOT and a clearing of trapped energy, so I had a session to see if it would help. Alicia monitored the whole session right from the beginning, and while she assisted her student, she also stepped back and allowed her to proceed in her own way.
After the initial explanation of how this works and taking some history about me I got comfortable. There was a big emphasis on this. I laid down fully clothed with a blanket and was so relaxed I almost fell asleep but was still aware of what was happening. I could feel the warmth from her hands and felt a tingly sensation. The pains in my legs definitely decreased and this carried on into the next day.
Interestingly, the practitioner felt an issue in my throat area and this surprised me that she picked up on this as I had not mentioned anything about this soreness on and off in this area over the last few days. I can tell that Alicia is a patient, teacher who encourages her students to fulfil and achieve their potential.”
From an emotional point of view, I have had a great deal of experience releasing abusive relationship issues and cord cutting for clients.
Spiritually speaking, Reiki offers a door to open for many,
Other clients may come on an ad hoc basis, as and when they feel needing ‘topping up’ with the beautiful energies that Reiki brings.
Meridian Psychotherapy and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) are among the tools you use in your practice. How do these energy psychology techniques contribute to unblocking negative energy and promoting emotional and mental balance in individuals?
This is one of the areas I would love to develop more as I really think these techniques are really important and valuable in the future world of therapies. They are becoming more utilised in the NHS but it can be quite hard to utilise them if you are a private practitioner. I find that my clients are quite new to understanding the above and this is the least developed of all my therapy paths.
Basically, Meridian Psychotherapy and EFT do respond to unblocking negative energy and promoting emotional and mental balance in individuals but quite a few sessions can be needed.
To be honest, I tend to find Reiki and hypnotherapy do a good job in providing these, but if I feel that a client would benefit from Meridian Psychotherapy or EFT I may incorporate it or teach a client how to perform a simple method whereby they introduce a suitable tapping pattern for themselves for their wellbeing.
Past Life Regression is a fascinating area of your expertise. How can exploring past lives through hypnosis or Reiki help clients gain insights into their present behaviors, relationships, and even physical ailments?
As a therapist myself, we all know that it is important we look after ourselves and work on our own life issues. Past Life Regression is one of the first things I delved into when I was undergoing a course of hypnotherapy for myself and I have loved it ever since and tried and tested many methods and experiences and always got something out of it.
I can certainly give some examples of how Past Life Regression has helped my clients.
I had one client who always had pain in his chest. Upon using Reiki to connect to his past lives I discovered he was of the Yorkshire Ripper’s victims who had been a victim before all the other cases he was charged for came to light. The Ripper had actually cut his victim’s breast off.
I also had a client who wanted to explore a past life he was convinced about. He felt he had been a soldier in World War I and upon using Reiki again we connected to a very deep energy and managed to find a very detailed life for him. He left with a deep understanding and sense of peace.
Another client was kind enough to let me use this quote:
“Past Life Regression was a fantastic experience. Alicia guided me to a place where I was able to spiritually experience my past life. I found the experience extremely beneficial and it gave me insight and the ability to reflect on my current life and review and connect some of my present emotions with my past life experiences.
Alicia was very professional, reassuring and supportive.”
How do you develop people with your skills as a yoga teacher?
When clients come to me to learn yoga, basically, they think they’re coming for a physical workout and before they know it, all other good things come out of the ‘Pandora’s Box’.
For example, I get clients to address their lifestyles and use my Reiki, meditation and hypnotherapy skills etc to help accordingly. I have one client, for example, who would be laid up for two weeks at a time with her back when she did too much for others. She has now addressed this issue, and comes weekly for back maintenance, and has learnt much more about spirituality and saying no to others where necessary and delegation. Also, she rarely gets back pain now.
Other clients have developed their psychic skills or decided to learn Reiki themselves as well as deeper emotional work through Past Life Regression and hypnotherapy.
You never know what you’re getting until you meet a person and see that one size certainly doesn’t fit all with yoga either.
I’m very lucky to be able to teach yoga at home these days (with the healing and assistance of my King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Bonnie!), and it’s lovely to work with clients more closely and help them adjust postures as well as their mindset, as required.
Below are some of the wonderful comments of feedback my students have given me:
“When I use the meditation techniques at the sessions, I feel relaxed and free of worries. I can tap into these at home, if I feel stressed. The yoga poses enable me to focus to stretch and strengthen my body.”
‘Less is more’
“By focusing on the small details, I have been able to enhance all aspects of the physical, mental and spiritual. Slowing down the movements and my thought process, I have been able to maximise the control and positions needed in the sessions.”
“My 2:1 sessions with Alicia have been fantastic. It is time that is protected in my busy life.
We have been focusing on the alignment of certain yoga postures. Alicia is very patient and explains postures well. Yoga has given me mental clarity and peace. I leave the sessions feeling calm and relaxed. Also, I do yoga sessions with my husband, so this is a journey we are doing together.
Alicia has also given me some Reiki healing for my migraines. It has helped remove ‘blockages’ and helped me to relax.
Another element Alicia has helped me with is chakra balancing. I had murky chakras, but after Alicia’s session, the colour I saw turned into black and white.
Thank you Alicia for giving me the time and space just for me.”
“Relaxing, found the different postures beneficial. Alicia demonstrated and assisted to correct postures.
I felt revived and positive after the session.”
“Alicia puts together such a welcoming yoga class and manages to give everyone an individual tailor-made exercise program according to their ability.
This one-to-one support within the group is beneficial to me as I have a health condition (fibromyalgia) and my needs change from one class to the next. I am encouraged to use a chair or the wall etc when I am experiencing fatigue, and to only do what my body allows. Alicia will tweak and reposition my poses, making sure my body is aligned correctly. This flexible teaching style helps me to reach my goal of becoming more supple, therefore having a direct impact on my mobility and builds on my physical strength. The attention to breath work, mindfulness, and winding down each session with a meditation has noticeably improved my mental health. This form of exercise was recommended to me by health professionals as I cannot put too much stress on my joints and muscles and I feel safe in Alicia’s experienced hands.”
What are your plans for the future, in your work, if any?
I’m totally passionate about helping others and the work I do. However, my one frustration is when people dismiss us psychics and spiritual healers so easily, especially when I feel my own spiritual connection and vibration is increasing by the day.
I’m currently studying and training to get a Diploma in Holistic Coaching, Coaching and Stress Management with the UK College of Holistic Training. I hope and aim to bring about balance and help in all areas, be they physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, to a more diverse clientele.
I believe that it is the modern, more ‘scientific’ way forward in people’s and the work industry’s thinking and will be the way forward to reach out to new clients who need helping.
I aim to call my new venture Alicia’s Life Coaching Attic. So watch this space!
Ultimately, I believe we never stop learning and each client I have is a blessing and I’m very lucky to have had lots of lovely people I’ve helped on their journey. If my path continues in the way it is, I can only carry on feeling very blessed indeed.
