The lovely Patti Negri, AKA The Good Witch of Hollywood, renowned medium and psychic, gives us a glimpse into her ‘paranormal’ realm.
When did you first start frequenting the world of the paranormal?
I was actually born into the world of the paranormal although I didn’t know it at the time. I have been talking to spirits and to the other side since I could talk myself, and I do believe that most children actually can.
I have always had a fascination, perhaps obsession, with the other side and my conversations with spirits or those on the other side were never dark or negative. I had my first seance at the age of 7 or 8 and then pursuing my obsession in understanding the energy between people and spirits and needing to see through the veil, I started studying religion, philosophy, metaphysics, cult sciences and everything in between at the age of 13.
Can you describe to our readers your skill set?
I see energy and the ‘cords’ between people and I am able to see through the veil. I do believe that we are all capable of this, it’s just that we live in a non-mystical society and we are ‘de-skilled’, if you like, as we grow up. I was able to retain my connection with nature and nurture my intuition. My gift is that I can see beyond the obvious, and beyond our little 3- dimensional world.
I think what makes me different from other people who have similar gifts to me is that I turn it into practicality. I don’t believe that anything is set in stone as we all have free will. I do see pathways and this is my psychic side. The medium side is seeing through the veil and talking to the other side.
I try to bring all this information to my clients in a practical way – how can this help you in this life that you are living now? I give people their power back. This is my main focus. I prefer not to focus on my ‘magick’ but to highlight to each of my clients what magical people they are.
What is your definition of ‘Magick”?
Magick is being willing to take whatever fate or destiny is, and being willing to shift it. Magick is putting up sails and driving the boat and taking responsibility for what that entails. Good magick is taking what you need to move forward, shift and evolve, without harming those around you.
Is there a difference between ‘ghosts’ and communicating with those on ‘the other side’?
Ghosts are people that were once living humans who have passed over. Most of them hang out because they can, and others are stuck. However, it truly is easy to help a ghost see the light and cross over to the other side.
Then there is the ‘everything else’ category which leads us into the angelic, elemental and perhaps demonic realm. They were perhaps not humans but were all living entities.
Do you find that interacting with celebrities has taken away the essence of your gift?
Absolutely not, because believe it or not, celebrities are the same as everybody else. They all have fears and concerns just like the rest of us.
I am very private and nobody knows who I work with – unless THEY CHOOSE to be public about it! All my sessions are completely confidential.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?
When I see somebody, usually on this side of the veil, have a lightbulb moment of; I don’t have to struggle like this, I don’t have to live in this chaos – I have more control than I’m taking. This is by far the most rewarding part of my work.
Have you ever been genuinely afraid of something you have encountered?
I love fear, and the challenges that come along with it.
The scariest thing that happened to me was during a seance where I was at a very haunted house built by Charlie Chaplin. I let one of the kids get a bit out of hand and eventually one of the people filming the seance burst into flames. Spontaneous Combustion!
It all ended happily but it was admittedly scary, even for me: Patti, cool Medium Witch Patti turns into medic Patti….I would like to add that many positive things came out of this saga for the parties concerned.
What can one expect from a session with the Good Witch of Hollywood?
One can expect to come out with a better understanding of why their paths are leading where they are leading. Maybe we can take it back to a past life, or to childhood. What they come away with after a session is an understanding of what is problematic in their life, and a game plan to make it go away or a choice to stop it. Clients will come away inspired, enthusiastic and filled with a sense of hope. EMPOWERMENT is the key word!
Words of advice from Patti for NOW; connect back with nature any way you can, whether it be following moon cycles, or getting outdoors more. I have a book called Old World Magick for the Modern World which describes simple daily things that one can do for life to be a little smoother without having to delve into the realm of witchcraft. It is a tiny little handbook that I highly recommend for everyone.
