This week, we had the opportunity to speak with Amy Taylor, a Tea Leaf and Card Reader. We discussed her beginnings, how she developed her psychic abilities, and how was her work affected by the pandemic.
When and how did you first realize you have a psychic gift?
I suppose it was in my teens when I realized I had some kind of psychic ability. I didn’t really hone the skill until my 20s and am always learning new ways to improve my abilities.
What is the most popular type of reading that customers are looking for?
In my situation, with the two types of readings I offer, most people are coming to see what their future will hold, especially during these unprecedented times with the uncertainty of COVID-19.
What are the most common concerns that interest them?
Stability of finances, and relationships is still top of mind. But lately it’s also been health related and in many cases, mental health related. People are so stressed out and are really looking for more ways to be well, so it appears that there is also a greater need for spiritual pursuits and many are also seeking more information about paganism and eastern spiritual concepts.
Some of the psychic sessions are still performed in person. What about you?
I am still seeing clients on a one on one basis, but with strict COVID-19 safety protocols in place. In the area of Ontario that I work and live in, we have just gone into stronger protection measures, so I have had to add a couple new protective protocols (to the already strict measures I have been taking) in place to ensure everyone is safe, including myself. But, that being said, I also have moved my card reading service online at the beginning of the Pandemic to still be able to aid my clients.
How has your work been affected by the pandemic?
I have had to change everything about how I do business. I do more than just readings in my business. I am also a Tea Sommelier, and I small batch blend and curate a limited number of teas and tisanes for sale in my business. I also have a Tasseomancy Museum with over 100 different items open to the public (with COVID safety protocols in place) and I teach the Art and about teas as well.
Because of COVID, I have had to move my shop to an online store (still maintaining a storefront as well), move the programs I teach online and as well am providing both online and email card readings. This pandemic has changed everything and oddly and amazingly, it has opened up more opportunities to reach people all across the globe.
What do you love most about your profession?
I love being able to help so many people find clarity and direction along their life path journey. Being able to help someone break negative patterns and to see what is really happening before their eyes is very gratifying. But what really does it for me is when my clients follow up with me and let me know how my reading has helped them move forward, because that is what I am there for, to help folks move forward on their paths.
I also love that I can create my own schedule and have time to focus on other endeavours, such as writing and creating.
Was there anything that you felt you needed to do to deepen or develop your psychic abilities?
Yes. Very early on for me it was clear that the first thing I had to do was to lose my ego (these readings are not about me). Also to better understand energy (if you cannot feel energy you are doing yourself a great disservice). I do not carry the readings with me (remembering all my readings early on became a disaster energetically and emotionally. By releasing the reading once it is finished meant better, healthier mental and energetic health for me) LastLy, I had to learn how to truly trust in my ability.
Don’t kid yourselves people, you never stop learning in this industry and you never stop furthering your abilities.
Do you have a special message for our readers in these difficult times?
Slow down.
Get outside in nature.
Listen to what the earth is saying, take more action to do less harm to our already over taxed planet.
Be kind to each other.
Everyone is facing their own struggles, and this virus is challenging everyone on so many different levels.
Check on your vulnerable community members, off help where you can.
Wear a mask, wash your hands, keep a safe distance and remember that when this is over, we will be able to hug again, shake hands again and meet freely again.
Be well and stay safe.
