MysticMag’s Marko Velimirovic had the chance of talking with Janelle Bridge, a young and successful psychic reader from Australia. We talked about her beginnings, discussed the importance of managing your client’s expectations, as well as the influence of Covid-19 pandemic on her work.
What inspired you to start your psychic reading business?
Janelle Bridge: I’ve been studying psychic reading for quite a while, and my first steps were doing some readings within my class. Before I officially started with my training, I have been dwelling into psychic reading worlds for 3 years. After the Covid-19 outburst in Australia, I felt a bit depressed about it – we were all forced to stay at home all the time, and normally when I struggle like that, I start helping people around me which always pulls me out of my misery.
I then started visiting some girl talk forums, and I announced there that I do psychic reading and that I am willing to offer my services for free. Girls from the forums were very interested, so shortly after that I started with email readings because the feedback I received was absolutely phenomenal! This made me feel good about myself, and it gave me wings to further pursue this career. I was helping people, and the overall feedback implied that I give really accurate information, so I decided to turn this hobby into something bigger.
I soon realized that I can do something more career-wise, and it almost seemed as if I were meant to do something like this. I did a couple more readings for free, after which I started advertising my services on my Instagram page – requests started coming in really quickly, the feedback did not change at all, so I updated my website and started to do psychic readings professionally. Since the Covid-19 outbreak in March, I’ve done more than 200 readings!
What type of reading is most frequently requested?
JB: By far the most popular type of reading that customers are looking for are future predictions – and that can sometimes get very frustrating! I always emphasize that I am not a fortune teller, and I have never claimed to be one – we are beings that operate on free will, so it is impossible for psychic readers to give exact predictions on questions such as “when will my boyfriend return to me?” or “When will I get a new job?”.
People are often very anxious to find out the exact and super accurate predictions of future events in their lives, so I often ask them – do we really want to know what exactly awaits us in the future? Do we really want to know in advance how our destiny will unfold, instead of just living our lives?
Are some types of psychic readings more demanding or difficult than others?
JB: The most challenging thing in this business is managing expectations of your customers. As mentioned in the previous question – many of them want some exact predictions of future events, and those unrealistic expectations can make this business hard at times.
Some of the psychic sessions are still performed in person. What about you? How has your work been affected by the pandemic?
JB: Here in Australia, we had a full stage 4 lockdown, so we were not allowed to leave our homes. Zoom meetings proved very useful for me, as well as readings via email, due to the restrictions of face to face appointments.
What advice would you give to a fledgling psychic reader? Is it better for them to work independently or as a part of a team?
JB: I personally do my job independently, however, I do feel that it is very important for a new psychic reader to have a good team around them, as that would definitely help with their career development. But in general, when it comes to my own psychic reading sessions, I prefer to work alone.
What are your thoughts about importance of word-of-mouth and personal recommendations in this business?
JB: I do think that it is very important – I rank pretty high on Google among other psychic readers, and I find that very important because Google is where most of my clients are coming from. That is why I really put hard work into it, because improving your Google ranking is very important for your profile. When searching for a psychic on Google, people instantly jump to reviews to see other people’s opinions, so I think that having good reviews is crucial.
Besides that, I really do get a lot of recommendations from friends, since there is a lot of shady stuff happening in this business, making it very hard for people to separate good psychics from the bad ones.
